There are moments in life that remind us why we do what we do and Myles in Idaho is one of those moments.
Six-year-old Myles loves camping. He loves being outdoors, sitting around the fire, feeling the breeze, and soaking in the adventure that comes with being outside. But while undergoing leukemia treatment, camping trips haven’t been as frequent as he’d like.
So he made a wish. Not for toys, not for electronics, not for something flashy. He wished for the outdoors, brought home and through the incredible support of Make-A-Wish Idaho, that wish became reality.
A Backyard Made for Adventure
Myles’ wish was for a backyard makeover, a space where he could feel like an outdoorsman again.
His wish included:
- A pergola for shade
- A swing
- A firepit to complete the camping experience
A place where he could sit outside, feel safe, and reconnect with the joy of being a kid who loves the outdoors. When the project was completed, something beautiful happened. “He feels very loved,” his mom shared. “Miles said that they gave me a pergola because ‘everyone loves me.’” That perspective changes everything.
More Than a Swing — A Place of Comfort and Strength
As manufacturers of therapeutic wheelchair-accessible swings built in the USA, we often talk about durability, safety systems, and design integrity, but what matters most a swing that becomes a space of healing. For Myles, it isn’t just about motion, It’s about:
- Having a place to rest outdoors during treatment
- Feeling normal again
- Sitting under a pergola with family
- Watching the fire flicker in his own backyard
- Experiencing independence, comfort, and connection
When a child facing leukemia says, “Everyone loves me,” you realize the structure is secondary. The love is the real foundation.
Why Partnerships Like This Matter
We are deeply grateful to Make-A-Wish Idaho for trusting us to help bring this vision to life.
Their team works tirelessly to create life-changing experiences for children facing critical illnesses across Idaho. It’s an honor to partner with an organization that believes — as we do — that environment matters. Outdoor spaces heal, connection heals, kindness heals.
When organizations, families, and builders come together, something bigger happens. A worldview shifts and as Myles’ mom beautifully said: “He sees everyone as kind and nice and knows that there are good people on this earth who God will send to help. That lesson has hit for him.” That’s not just a backyard renovation, that’s hope.
A Swing Built for Moments Like This
Our pergola-style wheelchair swing is designed to create safe, shaded, therapeutic outdoor spaces, but stories like Myles’ remind us that what we’re really building is:
- A place for laughter
- A place for resilience
- A place where a child can feel strong
- A place where a family gathers
- A reminder that community shows up
Every swing we manufacture in the United States carries that responsibility, and we don’t take it lightly.
To Myles
Myles, we hope your backyard becomes your favorite campsite. We hope every swing forward reminds you that you are loved and we hope that every time you sit under that pergola, you feel the strength of the people who came together to support you.
You are brave.
You are strong.
And you are deeply loved.
Thank You
To the team at Make-A-Wish Idaho thank you for your partnership, your heart, and your commitment to children like Myles. It was an honor to help make this wish come true.
