At WheelchairSwings.com, every swing we build tells a story. Some swings are shipped across the country, while others, like this one, are personally delivered, installed by hand, and finished with the help of the child whose wish we were honored to help fulfill.

Recently, we took a special road trip from Greenfield, California to southern Idaho to install a wheelchair-accessible swing as part of a Make-A-Wish Idaho project. But this wasn’t just a delivery, it was a mission, a memory-maker, and a chance to pass down values to the next generation.
The Journey: Roads Less Traveled
Chad, our founder and fabricator, brought along a few of his grandkids, not just for help, but for a lesson in serving others. Along the way, we made stops in:
- Reno, NV – where we visited Cabela’s and were humbled by the full-scale wildlife exhibit
- Nat Soo Pah Hot Springs – a quiet overnight campsite that reminded us to slow down
- Shoshone Falls Park – a breathtaking view known as “the Niagara of the West”
We didn’t take the fastest route. We took the one with grain fields, cows, and cornrows, where the sky feels bigger and the pace of life reminds you why the work matters. It’s the kind of trip that helps you reconnect with the land, your mission, and your family.
Meet Miles: The Heart Behind the Swing
When we arrived at second destination, we were greeted by Miles a vibrant, joy-filled child whose only wish was to swing like other kids. Alongside his younger brother and loving parents, Miles brought laughter, energy, and warmth to the entire experience.
But the moment that truly stood out? We handed Miles the drill and let him put in the final screw of his own swing. It was simple. It was powerful. And it’s a moment we know his parents will carry in their hearts for years to come.

Why We Do This Work
We don’t build wheelchair swings just to make playgrounds more inclusive, we build them to:
- Bring joy and dignity to children and adults with disabilities
- Create shared moments between caregivers and loved ones
- Offer motion therapy for individuals with limited mobility
- Support families, organizations, and communities seeking accessible recreation
With every install, especially one like this with Make-A-Wish, we’re reminded that this is about more than metal and wood it’s about freedom, togetherness, and the joy of movement.
Thank You to Our Community
We’re grateful to organizations like Make-A-Wish for trusting us to help fulfill wishes like Miles’. And to the many donors, supporters, and friends who make this work possible, thank you.
Whether or not you ever meet the families impacted, your support helps children swing, laugh, and experience life in a way they might not otherwise have had the chance to.
